lPeace should never be taken for granted. It is an on-going process, a Long-term goal
equires constant engineering, vigilance and active participation by all inaividuais. It IS a cholce to be made on each situation, an everyday Ilife decision to engage in sincere
alalogue with other individuals and communities, whether they live a block or a click away."
- (UNESCO, 2013)

The UNESCO book, Long Walk to Peace underlines how peace isa continuous process and a journey of discovery, It requires constant reviewing and updating based on changing
realities on the ground and the specific time and context.' It points out how peace is in permanent flow and should be reinvented in every context, never confined within a rigid
rational structure'.The apostle of peace, Mahatma Gandhi whose thoughts and ideas of peace and
nonviolence continue to guide individuals, groups and societies had pertinently pointed out,
The world will live in peace, only when the individuals composing it make up their minds
to do so."It is in this backdrop that in the context of conflicts of different forms, continuous efforts
need to be made to identify and act on approaches to work for peace and nonviolence in
our societies. A large number of individuals and groups in societies around the world are
already working incessantly to create a global nonviolent planet where mutual respect,
understanding and tolerance are critical. To explore the nonviolent and peace traditions of societies, reinvent the idea of peace and
nonviolence in contemporary societies, encourage innovations in initiatives to promote
peace and nonviolence, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti is organizing a Discourse, AGandhian Path for Global Nonviolent Planet: Strategies of Action for a Culture of Peace on
